Gem mining program

Nothing beats the pure joy of hands-on discovery! We proudly offer top quality gem mining programs and activities that are sure to inspire "kids of all ages"

Gem mining "Plus" program

Our Gem Mining "PLUS" Program adds the element of a small portion of our basic geology presentation we normally would only provide with our more formal Basic Geology and Geode Cracking program.

  • Flume trailer weighs over 7,000 lbs and is just street legal in height. Requires a flat set up area of approximately 24 x 30 for large configuration (up to 28 participants per session) , 12 x 30 for small configuration (up to 14 participants per session) with access to both water (around 250 gallons) and electric.

  • 60 minute program set up time, and 60 to 90 minutes tear down and clean up time

  • Plan on a 30 to 45 minute run time per session for standard Gem Mining Program, about 50 to 90 minute run time per session for our Gem Mining "PLUS" Program. If we have more time to work with, we will extend question and answer session at end

  • Require 5 to 10 minutes to "re-set" between sessions

  • Hands-on activity – Mine for real rocks, minerals, gemstones,fossils, and more from around the world, yours to keep!

  • Each paid participant will be given one bucket of ore which contains 1 1/2 to over 2 pounds of finds. (final amount of finds is dependent on participant searching their entire bucket carefully)

  • includes a storage bag to take your finds home in, and a identification sheet too!

fossil mining program

Basically the same as our Gem Mining "PLUS" Program, only participants will learn about the fossilization process, about many of the fossils they will be finding in the ore, about the fossils that can be found nearby, and about fossilization process. This also includes the Hands-on activity of mining for real fossils, and more from around the world, yours to keep!
